10 October 1842— Bishop Jean-Baptiste-François Pompallier to Father Jean-Claude Colin, Bay of Islands

Translated by Fr Brian Quin SM, September 2015

Cf. introduction to doc. 195.

Bay of Islands, 10 October 1842
Reverend Father,
[1]
Following the instructions that Reverend Father Épalle will have brought to you, I am drawing on the allocations of 1841 and 1842 up to the limit in question, which will be a long way from equalling the total of only one of these years’ allocations. So today I am making available to you a draft drawn up in triplicate, to the order of Mr J Dunn, amounting to three thousand four hundred and twenty four francs, forty centimes.
[2]
I have the honour to be, with respect and gratitude,
Reverend Father,
Your most humble and obedient servant,
+ J(ean) B(aptis)te F(ranç)ois Pompallier, Bishop,
Vic(ar)-Ap(ostolic) of Western Oceania.
