Fr MICHEL BORJON, aged 29 (on arrival in New Zealand in Group V on 15 Jun 1841).

About a month after his arrival he sailed with Pompallier on the Sancta Maria to be left at Maketu to found a new station. A year later, while Pompallier was still away in Wallis, he was recalled to Auckland. From there he sailed on 1 August with Br Déodat on the Speculator, appointed to be the first resident priest in Wellington. The ship was last sighted at Mercury Bay on 12 August, and later foundered with no survivors. Borjon was presumed to have drowned, aged 31.
