The date given to the letter is the year 1847. From the content it is possible to be more precise: the overthrow of Louis-Philippe took place at the end of February 1848; the dioceses of Auckland and Wellington were created by the brief De animarum salute, dated 20 June 1848. Therefore, the letter was written after this last date.
