For about six months he was at Otaki, till in March 1852 he went to Wanganui town with Pezant. He was helping temporarily at the Whanganui River mission at Kauaeroa when the Pai Marire launched its drive towards Wanganui. In the ensuing conflict '''Euloge''' was killed on 14 May 1864 during the battle on Moutoa Island.
