29 October 1842 — Bishop Jean-Baptiste-François Pompallier to Father Jean-Claude Colin (2), Bay of Islands

(Cf introduction to Doc 195)

Translated by Fr Brian Quin SM, September 2015

[Address]
Father Colin, Superior-General of the Marists, in Lyons

Bay of Islands, 29 October 1842

Reverend Father
[1]
Still keeping to the same instructions, I am informing you beforehand that today I am drawing from the allocations of 1841 and 1842, the sum of eight thousand four hundred francs, to the order of Mr H Thompson and Co, and in triplicate. We will soon make arrangements to bring, safely and quickly, the funds allocated to this mission.
[2]
I have the honour to be, with respect and gratitude,
Reverend Father,
Your most humble and obedient servant,
+ J(ean- B(aptis)te F(ranç)ois Pompallier, Bishop, Vi(car)-Ap(ostolic)
