Pierre (Br Emery) Roudet
From Marist Studies
Pierre (Br EMERY) ROUDET, aged 22 (on arrival in New Zealand in Group V on 15 Jun 1841).
- Apart from a break in the Waikato in 1848 he remained at Kororareka. There was comparatively little outlet for his skill as a tailor, and he was involved with the various occupations of the brothers, but especially printing. After the 1850 Viard Marist exodus to Wellington, he helped set up the mission in Lower Hutt till, for reasons that are not clear, he went back to France in 1852. In 1859 he returned to Sydney to assist in the Marist mission Procure. Early in 1882 he returned to France, died at La Seyne (near Toulon), 27 November 1882, aged 63.
