11 October 1842— Bishop Jean-Baptiste-François Pompallier to Father Jean-Claude Colin, Bay of Islands

Translated by Fr Brian Quin SM, September 2015

Cf. introduction to doc. 195.

Bay of Islands, 11 October 1842

Reverend Father,
[1]
According to the instructions that reverend Father Épalle has brought you, I am drawing on you or on the allocations for 1841 and 1842 up to the limit in question. We will soon adopt a quicker and safer way of recovering the funds allocated each year to this mission. So I am making available to you a second draft in favour and to the order of Mr Wilson, amounting to three thousand two hundred and sixty- two francs, and drawn in triplicate.
[2]
With respect and gratitude I have the honour to be,
Reverend Father,
Your most humble and obedient servant,
+J(ean) B(aptis)te F(ranç)ois Pompallier, Bishop,
Vic(ar)-Ap(ostolic) of Western Oceania.
